みなさん、DAOというビジネス用語はご存知でしょうか?
DAOと書いてダオと読むそうです。
Nature Biotechnologyでスタートアップの投資エコシステムの記事を読んでいたところ、分散型自律組織(decentralized autonomous community; DAO)の存在が紹介されていました。
DAO自体は投資エコシステムのみで用いられる用語でなく、非中央集権型でブロックチェーン(仮想通貨)技術を用いたガバナンストークンにより運営がなされている組織形態のようです。
最近はやりのWeb3を象徴する組織形態として、有名なようですね。。。不勉強でした。。。下記の書籍などにも解説があるそうです。。。
ライフサイエンス業界においても、DAOの組織形態をもちいてファンディングを行うものが、記事によると下記など存在しているようです。すごいですね！！！

例えば、Baker DAOは、仮想通貨技術の一つのイーサリウムを基盤に資金を収集し、IPの取得と管理とともに独立した研究に資金を提供し、この分野でオープンで分散型の市場流動性を生み出すことを最終的な目標とするようです。
また、論文の中で紹介されているVitaDAOは、長寿研究に資金を提供するDAOとのことです。
VitaDAOはIP-NFTの形で研究に資金を提供し、デジタル化することで実現するそうです。

具体的には、NFTを通じて知的財産を共有するシステムで、IPをデジタル資産であるIP-NFTに変換し、ブロックチェーン上にあることで所有権が確認できるものにするそうでう。その目的は、サイロ化した研究をオープンにすると同時に、DAOメンバーが自分の関心のある研究を推進する役割を果たすことを可能にすることだそうです。
記事によると、VitaDAOの枠組みではtoken holderには直接の利益は還元されないようです。

一方で、出資者はVita tokenを得ますので、fundが成長すればこちらを現金化して利益を得るという感じなのですかね。
ちなみに、IP-NFTは別途下記のように、NFT化され管理されているようです。
NFTは確かにsecureなtransactionや非中央集権的なメリットがある一方、法的には所有権や利用権の問題、入力データの真偽の問題などもあるので、ちゃんとしたものかのデューデリジェンスは必須なのでしょう。
新しい技術は新しいビジネスの形態の実現を可能にしますが、このDAOというシステムが今後本当に定着するのか否かとても面白いですね！
